Four Variants of Dosa Recipes you must try at home in Lockdown

Hey guys, I hope you liked my previous post with some amazing variants of Uttappam recipes. I still have more in store for you. This time I will be sharing some lip-smacking and super delicious variants of Dosa recipes with you.

Here, I will be discussing four different variants of Dosa recipes out of which two will be traditional recipes and the other two will be fusion recipes.

Please wash the vegetables thoroughly before making the food. Also, wash your hands with soap before cooking.

All the below recipes serves 4-5 persons

  1. Mysore Masala Dosa

Mysore Masala Dosa

This is one of the popular variants of Dosa Recipes in India. This recipe has been originated from Mysore city of India. I will be sharing an authentic Udipi style Mysore Masala Dosa recipe today.

Ingredients For Mysore Chutney

· 1 tbsp white sesame seeds

· 2 dry red chili

· 4-5 garlic cloves

· 1 tbsp oil

· 4 tbsp chana dal

· ¼th cup diced coconut

· 1 Small-sized chopped onion

· 4-5 Curry Leaves

· ½ lemon juice

· Salt as per taste

For the Masala

  • 3 Medium-sized Onion
  • 2 Medium-Sized Potato
  • 5-6 Curry leaves
  • ½ tsp Turmeric
  • 3 Green Chillies
  • ½ tsp Udad Dal
  • 1 tsp Rai (Mustard Seeds)
  • 1 tsp Jeera(cumin)
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Salt as per taste

Method for Mysore Chutney

· Put Oil in a pan and then roast the curry leaves and chana dal for a few seconds.

· Then add the onion, dry red chili, garlic cloves, coconut, and sesame seeds.

· Roast all the ingredients well.

· Now mix all the above mixture in a mixer-grinder in a thick paste.

· Add less water while mixing the mixture as the chutney should have a thick paste-like texture.

Method For the Masala

· Cut the Onions and Potatoes in thin long slices.

· Now add oil in a pan and then add rai-jeera, urad dal, curry leaves, long-cut green chili slices for tempering.

· After 3-4 Seconds, add Onions in the pan.

· Then, after 4-5 seconds add potatoes and salt in the pan and stir it well.

· Let the vegetables cook completely.

· Then, add turmeric in the pan and stir it well again for 4-5 seconds.

For the Dosa

· Put the dosa batter in a round shape on a non-stick dosa-pan with the help of a round shape ladle used to serve sambhar or dal.

· Cook the Dosa well on both sides.

· Then place the dosa on a plate and apply Mysore chutney on it. Then fold the Dosa.

· You can serve the dosa with Masala, coconut chutney, and Sambhar.

Rava Dosa

Rava Dosa is another traditional authentic dish popularly served in the whole of India. Though Rava Dosa is a South Indian dish, it is loved by most of the people in the country. You can have this particular variant of dosa recipe for a quick light snack or Breakfast.

Ingredients

· 1 Cup Rava

· 1 Cup Rice Flour

· ½ Cup All-Purpose Flour (Maida)

· 1 tsp green-Chili Paste

· 3-4 Curry Leaves

· 1 tsp Jeera(Cumin)

· Salt as per taste

· 4 Cups Water

· 1 Small-Sized Chopped Onion

Method

· Add all the above ingredients in a deep bowl.

· Keep the mixture aside for ten minutes.

· The batter should be liquidy.

· Now sprinkle some chopped onions on the Dosa Pan.

· Then, sprinkle some batter on the pan with your hands.

· Now let the Dosa cook for a while and then sprinkle a teaspoonful of oil on the dosa.

· Turn the dosa after it turns brown in color.

· Cook the Dosa on both sides.

· Serve the dosa with some coconut chutney and sambhar.

Jini Dosa

This is one of the popular variants of dosa recipes which has been originated from the streets of Mumbai. This dosa has recently gained a lot of popularity as street food in the Indian metro cities.

Ingredients

· 1 Cup shredded cabbage

· 1 cup shredded carrot

· 1 small tomato

· 1 small thin sliced capsicum

· 1 tsp garlic paste

· 1 tsp chat masala

· 1 tsp garam masala

· 1 tsp red chili powder

· 1 tsp green chili paste

· 3 tbsp ketchup

· Salt as per taste

· 4 Cubes of Amul Cheese or any other cheese

· 1 tbsp oil

Method

· Put oil in a pan and then cook the onions, green chili paste, and garlic paste in it.

· Add the other vegetables carrot, cabbage, capsicum, and tomatoes after 4-5 seconds. Do not cook the vegetables completely. They should be slightly crunchy.

· Now add the spices red-chili powder, garam masala powder, chat masala, ketchup in it and mix them well with the vegetables.

  • Put the dosa batter in a round shape on a non-stick dosa-pan with the help of a round shape ladle used to serve sambhar or dal.
  • Cook the Dosa well on both sides.

  • Then place the dosa in a plate and apply the mixture on it with a generous amount of shredded cheese. Then fold the Dosa.
  • Serve the Dosa with coconut chutney.

Pav Bhaji Dosa

Pav Bhaji Dosa

This is one of the variants of Dosa recipes made with a combination of the famous Mumbai Pav Bhaji and Dosa. It is one of the fusion recipes mainly served in fast-food restaurants in Mumbai city.

Ingredients

· 3 Medium-sized 

Chopped Potatoes

· 3 Medium-Sized Chopped Onions

· 3 Medium-Sized Tomato-puree

· 1 Medium-Sized Capsicum

· 1 Medium-sized carrot

· 1 Cup Green-Peas

· 5-6 garlic cloves(crushed)

· 3 green chilies finely chopped

· 2 tsp red chili powder

· 2 tsp cumin-coriander powder

· ½ tsp turmeric powder

· 2 tsp Pav Bhaji Masala

· 1 tsp Garam Masala

· 1 tsp Kasuri Methi

· 2 tbsp oil

· 2 tbsp Butter

· Salt as per taste

Method

Method for making Pav Bhaji Dosa
Veggies sauteed with spices

· Boil the potatoes, carrots and green peas in a pressure cooker for 7-8 whistles

· Mash the vegetables thoroughly with a potato masher and keep them aside.

· Now, heat the oil and butter in a pan for 3-4 seconds.

· Add the onions, garlic, and green chili paste for 4-5 seconds.

· Then, add the tomato puree and capsicum and again let all the vegetables cook completely.

· Now, add all the spices red-chili powder, cumin-coriander powder, turmeric powder, pav bhaji masala, and garam masala.

· Add some water so that the spices don’t get burnt.

· After 4-5 seconds, add the boiled and mashed vegetables.

· Mix all the vegetables well and mash all the veggies with a potato masher to get a fine paste. 

· You can switch off the gas flame while mashing to be safe.

· Now add little water as the bhaji should be a bit thick. It will only then be easy to place it on the dosa.

· Also, add the Kasuri Methi in the end. It enhances the taste of the Bhaji.

· Put the dosa batter in a round shape on a non-stick dosa-pan with the help of a round shape ladle used to serve sambhar or dal.

· Cook the Dosa well on both sides.

· Then place the dosa on a plate and apply the Bhaji on the Dosa with some chopped onions. Then fold the Dosa.

· Serve the Dosa with coconut chutney.
