Four Variants of Uttapam to try at home in Lockdown

Uttappam is a popular South Indian dish. Over a period of time, people have started making it with different toppings on it to make it more delicious. The traditional dish is topped with certain fusion topping recipes to enhance its taste. I will be sharing four variants of Uttapam in this blog post.

Please wash the vegetables thoroughly before making the food. Also, wash your hands with soap before cooking.

All the below recipes serves 4-5 persons

1.    Onion Tomato Uttapam:

This is one of the traditional recipes from the four variants of uttapam I am sharing here. I have given it a little twist by adding certain ingredients in the recipe.

Ingredients

· 1 Medium-sized Onion

· 1 Medium-sized Tomato

· 3 tsp Molgapodi

· Coriander(Kothmari)

Method

· Take a Bowl and mix all the ingredients Onion, tomato, molagapodi and coriander.

· Now uttapam has a thick texture, make a round shape uttapam with a ladle on a non-stick pan. 

· Then, immediately spread the topping on the Uttappam and gently press it with the ladle on it.

· Cook both the sides of uttapam with a medium flame.

· The Hot Uttappam is ready to serve. You can serve it with some coconut chutney.

2.    Mix Vegetable Uttappam:

This is a very different and delicious recipe which I will be sharing here. Out of the four variants of the uttapam, this one is my favorite. Though, I loved to have all the four variants of uttapam. I think it is very difficult to compare all of them as all have a distinct taste.

Ingredients            

· 1 Cup shredded cabbage

· 1 cup shredded carrot

· 1 small tomato

· 1 small thin sliced capsicum

· 1 tsp chat masala

· 1 tsp garam masala

· 1 tsp red chili powder

· 1 tsp green chili paste

· 3 tbsp ketchup

· Salt as per taste

Method

· Put all the above ingredients cabbage, carrot, tomato, capsicum, chat masala, garam masala, red chili powder, green chili paste, ketchup, and salt in a bowl. 

· Mix them well with a ladle.

· Now uttapam has a thick texture, make a round shape uttapam with a ladle on a non-stick pan. 

· Then, immediately spread the topping on the Uttapam and gently press it with the ladle on it.

· Cook both the sides of uttapam with a medium flame.

· The Hot Uttappam is ready to serve. You can serve it with some coconut chutney.

3. Corn, Capsicum, and Paneer Uttappam:

This is another delicious recipe from the four variants of the uttapam shared here.

Ingredients

· 1 cup corn

· 1 small finely chopped capsicum

· ½ cup small cubes of diced Paneer

· 1 tsp Pepper powder

· 1 tsp chat masala

· Salt as per taste

Method

· Mix all the above ingredients corn, capsicum, paneer, pepper powder, chat masala, salt in a bowl.

· Uttappam has a thick texture, make a round shape uttapam with a ladle on a non-stick pan. 

· Then, immediately spread the topping on the Uttappam and gently press it with the ladle on it.

· Cook both the sides of uttapam with a medium flame.

· The Hot Uttappam is ready to serve. You can serve it with some coconut chutney.

4. Cheese Chili Uttappam:

This is one of the lip-smacking uttapams from the four variants of the Uttapam. It has loads of cheese in it and at the same time, it also has some spice of the green chilies. This combination of the dish makes it taste delicious.

Ingredients:

· 1 Medium-sized Capsicum

· 1 Medium sized Onion

· 3 cubes of Amul Cheese (any other cheese will do) or 1 cup of shredded cheese

· 2 tsp. pepper powder

· salt as per taste

Method:

· Chop thin long slice of capsicum and onion.

· Now add all the ingredients, capsicum, onion, cheese, pepper powder, and salt in a bowl.

· Mix them well.

· Uttappam has a thick texture, make a round shape uttapam with a ladle on a non-stick pan. 

· Then, immediately spread the topping on the Uttappam and gently press it with the ladle on it.

· Cook both the sides of uttapam with a medium flame.

· The Hot Uttappam is ready to serve. You can serve it with some coconut chutney.
